One-on-One Soccer Training in Charles County, MD

One-on-One Soccer Training in Charles County, MD

For years, families in Charles County who wanted individualized soccer coaching for their children faced the same frustrating reality: the quality wasn’t available locally. Getting a serious private session with a credentialed, experienced coach meant driving 40–60 minutes into the D.C. suburbs, adding significant time and stress to an already busy family schedule. Many families gave up on the idea entirely. Many talented players missed the individual development work that could have moved their game to the next level.

That’s the problem Touch Lab Soccer Training was built to solve in Southern Maryland. Coach Paul Jackiewicz, a USSF-licensed soccer coach with over a decade of experience, brings professional one-on-one training directly to Charles County. Your player gets elite, individualized coaching in their own community without the commute.

Why the Drive Matters More Than You Think

Distance is more than an inconvenience, it’s a development barrier. When a family has to factor in 45 minutes of driving each way for a one-hour training session, the total time commitment nearly triples. That’s hard to sustain week after week, especially when balancing school, multiple kids, and work schedules.

The result is that Charles County players who would benefit most from consistent private training end up doing it sporadically or not at all. Inconsistent training produces inconsistent results. A player who gets three sessions in eight months doesn’t see the same growth as one who trains consistently every week or two.

By bringing sessions directly to Waldorf, La Plata, White Plains, Indian Head, and surrounding Charles County communities, Touch Lab removes the biggest practical obstacle to consistent individual development. One-on-One Soccer Training in Maryland should be accessible for Charles County families and now it is.

What One-on-One Sessions Cover in Charles County

Coach Paul builds every private session around what that specific player needs. No templates. No assumptions. He watches the player, identifies the real limiting factor in their game, and designs the session to address it directly.

Over the course of a training relationship, sessions progressively develop:

  • Technical fundamentals — first touch, ball control, and dribbling mechanics that form the base of every other skill
  • Passing and receiving in combination — one and two-touch play, playing under pressure, and distributing at game speed
  • Attacking movement — reading defenders, creating and exploiting space, and finishing when the opportunity arrives
  • Defensive awareness — positioning, patience, and the timing of a winning tackle or interception
  • Competitive mindset — the mental habits of a player who competes confidently rather than tentatively

Charles County’s youth soccer programs supported by Charles County Recreation, Parks and Tourism which provide a strong base. One-on-one training with Touch Lab takes players beyond that base and into genuine competitive readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions: One-on-One Training in Charles County

How often does my child need to train to actually see the consistency benefits this page talks about?

Consistency matters more than frequency. A player training every other week for several months will generally develop faster and more reliably than a player who trains three times in a season with long gaps in between. Weekly sessions produce the fastest results, but a steady every other week rhythm still builds real, lasting progress. What matters most is avoiding the stop start pattern that distance has historically forced on Charles County families.

Which Charles County communities does Touch Lab actually serve?

Touch Lab trains players throughout Charles County, including Waldorf, La Plata, White Plains, and Indian Head. Sessions within 30 minutes of Upper Marlboro carry no travel fee. Locations 30 to 45 minutes out add a $25 travel fee, and locations 45 minutes or more add a $35 travel fee. Reach out with your neighborhood when booking and Coach Paul will confirm the fee zone.

My child plays defense. Will sessions focus mostly on attacking skills, or can training be defense specific?

Sessions are built around the individual player, not a fixed curriculum, so a defender’s training looks different from a forward’s. Defensive positioning, patience, and the timing of a well timed tackle or interception are part of the regular training progression, and Coach Paul will weight sessions toward those areas if that’s where your child plays or where they need the most development.

How does Coach Paul decide what to work on first with a new player?

The first session or two functions as an evaluation. Coach Paul watches how the player receives the ball, moves with it, makes decisions under pressure, and reacts defensively, then builds a plan around the actual limiting factor in their game rather than a generic starting point. From there, training progresses from technical fundamentals into more game realistic combination play as the player is ready.

Can we start with a single session before committing to a package in Charles County?

Yes. A single one hour session is available for families who want to try training before committing further. Many Charles County families do start this way, then move to a package once they see how the sessions fit into their schedule, especially since package clients get priority scheduling as demand in the area grows.

Do you work around Charles County recreation league or travel team practice schedules?

Generally yes. Most Charles County families book one-on-one sessions on off days from their rec league or travel team schedule, or in the off season when team practices ease up. Let Coach Paul know your team’s practice and game days when scheduling and he’ll work around them as much as availability allows.

What age or skill level is one-on-one training best suited for in Charles County?

One-on-one training works well across a wide range, from younger players building their first real technical habits to older, more competitive players refining specific weaknesses before travel or high school tryouts. Because sessions are built around the individual rather than a set curriculum, age and current skill level shape the session content rather than limiting who it’s a good fit for.
