One-on-One Soccer Training in Brandywine, MD

Some players need a full technical rebuild. Others need one thing sharpened before a tryout, evaluation, or move to a new position. This page is for the second group. Touch Lab Soccer Training runs one-on-one sessions in Brandywine designed around a specific goal and a specific timeline, not a general skills tune-up.

When a Targeted One-on-One Session Makes Sense

A focused private session is the right call when there’s a clear objective and a deadline attached to it. That covers situations like:

A club or travel team tryout coming up in the next few weeks A move to a new position, like a field player transitioning to center back or a player stepping into goal for the first time A club evaluation or re-tryout where a coach has flagged a specific weakness A high school team tryout where a player needs to show something specific to make the roster

In each of these cases, the training plan works backward from the deadline. Sessions target exactly what a tryout or evaluation is likely to test, rather than spreading time across a player’s entire game.

Position-Specific Training in Brandywine

General ball control work helps every player, but a center back, a winger, and a goalkeeper are evaluated on completely different things. One-on-one sessions can be built entirely around a single position:

Goalkeepers: shot-stopping technique, footwork, distribution, and command of the box, with training built around a goalkeeper’s specific movement patterns rather than adapted from field player drills.

Center backs and outside backs: 1v1 defending, positioning against runs, clearing under pressure, and playing out from the back under pressure.

Midfielders: receiving on the half turn, scanning before the ball arrives, and connecting play under pressure.

Forwards and wingers: movement off the ball, finishing in tight spaces, and beating a defender 1v1 in different areas of the field.

This kind of position-specific work is difficult to get in a standard team practice, where a coach is managing an entire roster instead of one player’s footwork or scanning habits.

What a Tryout Prep Block Looks Like

Families preparing for a specific tryout typically start a few weeks out and use a short run of sessions rather than a single one-off booking. A tryout prep block usually includes an initial assessment of where the player currently stands against what the tryout will test, focused technical sessions addressing the gaps identified, small sided or 1v1 game situations that mirror what evaluators actually look for, and a final session close to the tryout date to sharpen confidence and sharpness rather than introduce anything new.

New to Touch Lab? Start with a Player Evaluation

Player Evaluation Session — $65 (one-time per player)

Not sure where your player stands or what to focus on? A Player Evaluation Session is the best way to start. I’ll assess first touch, ball control, decision-making, and comfort on both feet, then walk you through exactly what I see and recommend a clear path forward, whether that’s a training pack, group sessions, or focused work at home.

One evaluation session per player. After your evaluation, one-on-one sessions are priced below.

One-on-One Training Pricing

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book before a tryout? Three to four weeks out is ideal, since it allows time for an evaluation session, several focused training sessions, and a final tune-up close to the tryout date. Shorter timelines can still work, but there’s less room to address more than one or two priorities.

Can training focus on just my child’s weak spot instead of a full session plan? Yes. Once a specific gap is identified, whether that’s distribution as a goalkeeper or first touch under pressure, sessions can stay centered on that one area rather than covering a broader curriculum.

What if my player is switching positions for the first time? That’s a common reason families book focused one-on-one sessions. Training builds the specific technical and tactical habits the new position requires, rather than assuming skills transfer automatically from the old one.

Do you offer this same tryout prep approach outside of Brandywine? Yes. This approach is available anywhere within our Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Calvert County, and Charles County service area.
